Within this lesson, we talked about the fundamentals of arts and went over our general knowledge making sure that we could understand where we were at as artists so that as we go through the years Will be able to develop our skills and make sure we get to a place good enough by the end of our uni Experience.

Within this first lesson, we were given a test to get into a group and design catches based on general themes that are mostly used for video games. Within my group, we Had chosen with the genre of Historical accuracy, Which means that we had to create characters that are not only Historically accurate, but without any other mystical or magical themes within the design designs. Me and my group had decided to go for the Viking age since it fit within our timeframe and I decided to do the villain for this assignment. The others tackled the mentor and the henchman. And after we are decided what we were going to do, we went into doing our concepts sketches for these characters mapping out how they may look their body type weapons they might use. I’m trying to get a general view of character and design. Wasn’t long enough we weren’t able to create any final images for our characters.

Homework

For the homework we have been set to finish off the characters that we are creating with our groups. This had to be a full body Drawing of the character. And had to not be in any kind of colour this was supposed to be all just line art, But we could add shadows and shading to the character as long as there was no colour to it.

For my character, I decided to not add any colour or even shading since I wanted it to look as if it was in a colouring book and Give whoever was colouring it more freedom to do whatever they wanted having any restrictions of where the shadows would go.

For this lesson we talked and looked at colour theory and looking how colours can change how a piece of art looks and affects the feel of the art. We also when into detail about techniques that also link to colours and shapes.

We also looked at how using shapes and how to use them to make buildings, with simplified down to large, medium and small versions of the same shapes. We also were set a tast with making and designing a small shack using the info that we had just learned.

Homework

For the homework we had to take another persons character that are drawn previously yeah for the last time and colour it in. Using what we had learned within the lesson to help us decide how to colour them. Using shading and colour fairy to help us show the character through the colours.
