(Ryan Cudworth) Pre Project - Hero

Ryan Cudworth

Hello, as I have said my name is Ryan Cudworth. I'm an Games Art Student and I like creating and drawing traditional and digital art and I've done a bit of 3D work as well. I'd like to become an concept artist for a gaming studio and maybe one day make my own comic.
I had chosen to go into doing Games Art course since I have always liked being creative and drawing, just as much as I've liked playing tones of different games, and always wanted to help make a game of my own one day, so the chance to go into and Games Art course I wasn't going to pass up that chance.

Here is the work that I had done for my pre project. I had done my work inside of PowerPoint, since it was the most easy way of formatting all my work together and less stressful.

for this project we were tasked to create a concept for a hero character for a new game that would allow people to create and grow their own hero and make it just like them. to help show that we also had to make sure that the character was a self-portrait and to also show are strengths and weaknesses within the design and concept.

Here I had created a mind map to to help me come up and think about the ideas that I had for this project. since the theme of this project I started it off with superhero and branched off from there. I thought of what super heroes are in and what kind of genre normal surrounds super hero stores.

Here I had gotten some different colours and the different variants of the colour. the reason I had done this is so that I had plenty of different colours that I wanted to use for different designs of the sketches for my character concept.

For this part of my concept creation I had draw out five different body's for my character. Since this character is supposed to be a self-portrait, I had tried to draw different body types that are close to mine but taking some liberates to the design, since they are supposed to be a hero and id think that that would defiantly have a effect on the body of my character.

This part of my work, I had designed four different head drawing for my character. the only different in the design is the type of hair and the colour of the hair and eyes. I had draw some concepts were the hair was closer to mine and also draw some that were hair styles that I think would look nice and that I might want.

  3. Excellent start, Ryan. You've got a strong methodology and sense of discipline. We'll work on proportion and building forms this year, which will take your work to the next level. Welcome to the course!
