Within this verse tour kit 2 session, We had started off by drawing the outline of a famous piece of art, By only using the shape of the shadows within the peace. For my attempt at the character I think that I didn’t do too bad and then I got the general shape of the character but a problem with it is that I had drawn it way too big and half of their body is now obscured by the edges of page. If I were to try again, I would definitely first so that I have a general layout of where the character will have to sit in so that I don’t make the same mistake.

The next task that we were set to do was to draw out oppose from characters that were shown to us with a certain amount amount of time for us to draw them out. Each time we would do the time want to get shorter, given us less time to be able to draw out the character. As you can see from my Pose is a lot more detail and has more Then the other drawings that I had done afterwards with each one getting less and less detailed and turning more and more into a type of stick man like With my last one only being Circle box triangle and with three lines coming off of them. This test is to help us and show that we need to develop our drawing speed much more, And it also showed us that the way that we hold our pencil will also affect how we draw and try and draw up the pencil and not to use our hands, but our whole shoulder to draw.

I’m finally after we had drawn those quick poses we are gone onto our final task of choosing out of a list of prompts what to draw. We had free range on what we could pick and wasn’t limited by the prompts anyway. I had chosen to draw a character throwing an object. My idea for this was to have a character looking like they’re about to chuck a chair at someone, To start off some references looking at Pinterest and online to find a suitable pose for the character. I was struggling a bit since I wasn’t very many references of someone from or even something close to position but then my teacher had told me to try and think outside the box when filing references and told me to look at restless since they were usually have the same pose that I would be looking for. I had a Sketched a few different poses and layouts for the character trying to get a handle of how they would look and they would have the chair positioned with their body, And even tried some tester sketches of how I wanted it to be framed. With me finally going onto another page to draw a larger sketch of the character of how I wanted it to look. Tried my best to make it look like I was having issues trying to get holding the chair legs. By the time the lesson was over I had only really developed half of what I wanted at this to look like I desperately wanted to change and tweak it and try and figure out how they would hold that chair in a way that would be believable. Luckily, the homework would allow me to do this.

Homework
For the homework that was set, we were giving the test to complete the image that we were drawing. Whether it was traditional or digital, we were allowed to work do whatever as long as we completed the image.

As I was drawing out the character I had decided that instead of having them holding the legs of the chair that they would be holding the back of it is more stable and wider Part of the chair to hold would also look more realistic. As able to get that done, I carried on with making the character more detailed and some personality to them design in the background of the character, Trying to make it look like maybe some sort of dungeon prison they will be held captive and that they are swinging the chairs as someone who is blocking their path. Conclusion, I was very happy with this turned out I’m very glad that I had carried on with this frame of thought for my piece of art.

Homework

For this homework, we were set the task of finding a late 15th century piece of artwork and have to do a massive study on it re-creating It as best as we could making sure that we follow the same technique and materials used in the creation of the piece of work. The work would have to be sketch that could be any thing from a person to a building to even landscape. Finally, we also have to do an analysis on the piece of art and talk about what methods and techniques the artist took to created and why they did so.

For my homework, I decided to do a piece of work known as Saint Sebastian which was created by the famous Leonardo da Vinci, by around the late 15th Century. For this sketch, it depicts a male figure, who is leaning back on what seems to be a large branch.
For the material used to create this piece I believe that for drawing the general shapes and form of everything Leonardo da Vinci used a pencil to get the overall design of it out and then used a dip pen to draw over and make not only the male figure, but also the lower half of the branch really popped out within the sketch. The reason for this is that he probably wanted the male figure to really stand out against all the other smaller Sketches and he would be able to do more finer details within the peace.
You look closely at this piece of sketch. You can see that it is not just as simple male figure Leaning against a branch, since you can see that there are more than just one body parts in different positions within the sketch. Whether Leonardo drew from memory or had a model, it seems that he decided to try and draw out many different poses with only changing the placements of the arms and legs the rest of the body staying exactly the same. This has similar design to his other work known as the Peruvian man With a male body having multiple arms and legs in different positions while the body and head are perfectly the same. Whether Leonardo got inspiration from the sketch Or the other way round it does show that is thought of This style of sketch and drawings is not new to him, And may even be aware of how he improved his own artistic skills for human anatomy and form.
Some key details within this sketch for some of the shaded areas within this instead of fully blackened out or using a lighter black he uses hatching to help give off the field of shadows and he also make sure not to shadow his piece of work with only a few hatches on his body and way more on the lock behind him. He also used Different pressure when applying the drip pen to his sketch with him having much more deeper pen mark along the right outside of the body and closer down to the feet while near the head You can see that around the hairline that is no actual pen marks at all since he didn’t put it in to help show highlights.
And finally, A sketch has the Male figure and the branch that they are leaning against it also has some what looks to be hills behind the figure, These theoretical hills are not inked out, but instead I just pencilled in. I believe that Leonardo probably wanted to add in some sort of background to the character but didn’t want to make anything permanent so instead of using a pen, he simply use a pencil just to quickly sketch in a few Mountains and laid out how the background could look. He may have wanted to redo at this piece of art and maybe turn it more into a proper painting But wasn’t sure about the background and just wanted to keep it really loose and easily changed.
